The super easy way to make doughnuts!!

Doughnuts have been my favourite ever since I was a kid. I've never thought of making it myself until my kids started to like eating them as well...And so I searched the internet and I came across to this recipe of fluffy doughnut from tichersu , thank you tichersu for sharing the recipe! And now, I'm sharing it with you!

The ingredients are:
(makes about 30-35 yummy doughnuts using the regular size doughnut cutter)

1kg of flour
About 1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of mashed potato
5 tablespoons of margarine
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 packet of yeast (Mauripan brand)
1 1/2 mug of warm water
Castor sugar


Add in a packet of yeast and a teaspoon of sugar into 1 1/2 mug of warm water. Stir well and set aside. It will become foamy like the picture shown.

Sift the flour, and add in the margarine and mashed potato. Knead the flour mixture until it becomes like breadcrumbs, like the picture shown below, I hope the picture is clear.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Though making the mashed potato is kind of 'fussy', it's the necessary ingredient if you want your doughnuts to be fluffy. And also you can add in about 5 tablespoons of powder milk to the flour mixture if you want to...

Add in the yeast mixture into the flour and knead it for about 1/2 hour or until it becomes smooth and doesn't stick to your beautiful fingers!


ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: Though I've stated 1 1/2 mug of warm water, our mug might not be the same size, so pour in the the water a small amount at a time so that you won't over pour the water and if you do, the mixture will become sticky! ( Like mine during the first attempt, where I had to add in more flour, this caused more time to knead the dough). Are you still with me? Now...

Let the dough spread until it become 2 times bigger. Knead the dough again and roll out the dough into about 1.5cm thickness. Cut the dough with the doughnut cutter.





Put it on a greased tray and let it spread once again until it become twice the size (about 15 to 30 minutes). Yikes, the doughnut's shapes are not really nice because this picture was taken during the first time making. I didn't take any picture of the next three successful attempts. Sorry!!

Fried with preheated oil until golden brown.
Spread evenly castor sugar on the fried doughnuts!

There you have it, your self made doughnuts! I've tried it 4 times now, except for the first attempt, the rest are all fluffy and yummy. Try it and let me know the result!

FUN NOTE: This activity is fun and can be enjoy by your kids, even my youngest son loves to help! (^j^)
