Sew-made: Baby jumper for baby Adra

Hello everyone!!

Yesterday. I made a baby jumper for baby Adra.
I have a lot of fabrics in my stash, so I had no problem selecting fabric to make one for Adra. Plus, it only use about 1 metre (I don't think it is near 1 metre at all!)

I use a pattern from a Japanese book, ONDORI (organic cotton wear for babies)
Adra is 7 months old but she wears a 18 months clothes! Haha...
Out of no reason, I quickly trace the pattern and start cutting out fabrics and here you are, a baby jumper in cotton fabric with adorable giraffe print.

I love it because the seams are nicely hidden and I didn't even use an overlock machine!

The back view. It's tie-a-ribbon method :)

Sew-made: A zip around boxy wallet

Hi! Everyone!
This is a zip around boxy wallet, a design inspired by hand made design in Thailand.
I am not sure she design it but she sell the pattern template and tutorial in Thailand. I tried to buy the pattern and tutorial from her, but she turned me down. She even lied to me that she do not sell or offer to sell the pattern template/tutorial. Sighs. I don't read Thai but I can read pictures, you know!

The reason why I want to buy the pattern is that I can learn more about bag making technique which was very limited in Malaysia. I love learning from my fellow Thai friends because their technique and design are far more advance from what we have here. It's sad, right? People in Malaysia are not really fond of sewing and crafts, not now...maybe another 10 years, perhaps?

So, here is the more improved design, after I bought another pattern from one of my fellow Thai friend,
Ms. Nok. She has been a huge help in making my hand made better and sturdier.
Thank you Ms. Nok!

This zip around boxy wallet is different from what you seen in the hand made market, you can see the different at the zip where there is binding on each zip, unlike the normal design zip around wallet, the zip itself is attach to the body of the wallet.

I add a detachable strap so that it is easier to carry and to have the safe feel when carrying one. This is a huge wallet that can fits your phone, contains 16 slots for cards, a divider and a zip compartment.

The bindings are finished with hand stitch.

Sew-made: Accordion wallet

This a custom made design accordion wallet for a new client.
Sometimes, new client is sceptical of hand made items, I understand because sometimes what we see is not always what we think it is. So, I offered a huge discount to this client because I want her to judge my hand made after she see it herself how I do my work. I think of this as one of my method for advertising and sedekah.

I am very much confident with my work, and all my clients are satisfied with my products and from what I heard from my loyal clients, my hand made even in a good condition after 5 years! It is something that I can be proud of, right? :)

This wallet can fits 12 cards, it has a zip compartment and a divider. This wallet is made of linen (checked design), plain black denim and plain 100% cotton (interior). I also add detachable strap, and the binding is finished by hand-stitch.

Sew-made: Zip around boxy pencil case organizer

It's still school holiday in Malaysia until 3rd/4th January, 2016.

Both my husband and me design this zip around boxy pencil case organizer. I think the design is for corporate or unique people who want to have something different from others (like me!) but my husband wants it available for students.
So, this is my first prototype.
A boxy pencil case at the centre of the organizer.

We planned to redesign so it fits a scientific calculator (as requested by my first order!) :) and the depth also.
This is still in prototype, but what do you think?

Sew-made: Boxy wallet

Today, I would  like to share a new design that I really love so much!
I saw this boxy style zip wallet from a fellow hand made maker from Thailand. She sells the kit and tutorial, but unfortunately she didn't want to sell it to me no matter how I beg hehehe...

So, I experiment the idea from multiple pictures I saw (you have no idea how ridiculous I look when I search for every details that I can find to start my own 'boxy wallet'

My husband helps me with designing the base and measurement, I did the test run of the first design.

This is my prototype, mainly to see what I can change and add. The prototype version use a cheap zip, oh my goodness! I really hate the local zip! It is wobbly, soft and wavy when sew. My hard work looks cheap!
Oh pfff...

...and this is my first order from a client for the boxy wallet! Yay!
She wanted it in linen (this the last piece linen I have in my stock) All the binding was hand-stitch and yes, took so much time but, I get to practice my hand stitch technique! *smile

Oh hey, I use Venus zip this time. It's a better quality and one of the best in Thailand.
I forgot to tell you the details of the wallet! Hah!

This design, I call it Sasya boxy accordion zip wallet.
It has 16 slots for cards, a zip pocket and 1 divider.

I think the next time, I will add a strap for more functional and feel-safe mode.

Sew-made: My prototype Bridget backpack

Assalammualaikum. Hi! My name is Liza. I am a  self-taught seamstress. I sew mainly bags and have been sewing for more than 7 years. You can visit me at Facebook Page Naydee

Today, I would love to share with you a design that I've made for Dec, 2015 collection.

This is Bridget Backpack.
A simple design with fun zip pocket on front.
The design is inspired by a bag I bought in Thailand 8 years ago. It was a cheap bag but I really love the design very much.

This prototype version was made with green denim and a mix of cotton fabric.
I add a layer of cord piping (which was a hassle to construct haha) but it added a structure to the bag.
I also use metal zip for the front pocket , the main compartment and the interior zip pocket.

There is also a little handheld on top of the bag, so it is really convenience to hold your bag while searching for your stuff inside the bag.

The interior body is fully quilted and has a slip pocket to secure your tablet in place.
My design is usually is made for order. If you are interested in the design with different fabric, you can drop an e-mail to sketch(dot)and sew(at)gmail(dot)com

Thank you.
